What Are Rikert Adaptive Bike Days?

  • Held every Wednesday from December to March (weather permitting)
  • Free sessions from 10 am to 12 pm
  • Designed for individuals with mobility challenges to enjoy the outdoors
  • No fee to participate—just bring a helmet and a friend!

Our Adaptive Bike Days are all about making winter accessible, enjoyable, and empowering for everyone. Whether you’re new to adaptive biking or looking for a supportive environment to explore, we’re here for you.

Each session accommodates 2–4 riders, though we can welcome more participants if you bring your own adaptive bikes or fat bikes. With two adaptive FatBikes available at Rikert, we ensure that every rider receives the care and support they need to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Our expert volunteers—Anja Wrede, RAD-Innovations staff, and Rikert team members—are on hand to assist, making adjustments based on each participant’s unique needs and abilities. Sessions are tailored to the individual, beginning in the stadium oval to help riders acclimate to the bikes and the conditions. For some, this area may be the perfect spot to ride, while others might venture onto the short Battell Trail or, if comfortable and accompanied by a knowledgeable friend, explore longer trails.

All rides and activities are weather-dependent, and snow conditions may also influence trail options. But no matter the setup, our goal is to create a fun, supportive, and empowering outdoor experience for everyone!
