Fat Biking at Rikert Outdoor Center

What is Fatbiking?

Fatbiking is the ultimate way to keep riding through the winter! These specially designed bikes come equipped with oversized, low-pressure tires (at least 3.5 inches wide) that provide incredible traction on snow, allowing you to cruise over groomed trails and packed singletrack with ease. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist looking for a new winter challenge or a newcomer eager to explore snowy landscapes in a fun and active way, fatbiking is an exciting alternative to traditional winter sports.

At Rikert, we embrace the thrill of fatbiking with a network of trails that cater to all experience levels. Whether you prefer a leisurely ride through scenic forests or a more technical adventure on our singletrack trails, there’s something for everyone.

Fatbike Rentals & Trail Access

No bike? No problem! We have a fleet of fatbikes available for rent, thanks to our partnership with Green Mountain Bikes. Our rental fleet includes various frame sizes (17″–21″), ensuring a comfortable fit for riders of different heights.

  • Fatbike Rentals – Available by the hour or for the day. $20/hour, $75/day.
  • Trail Pass Required – Fatbikers need a trail pass, just like skiers and snowshoers.
  • Reservations Available – Call ahead with a 50% deposit to reserve your bike.

Have your own fatbike? Bring it along! As long as your tires are 3.5″ or wider, you’re welcome to hit the trails.

Where to Ride?

We offer single track trails of various difficulty levels, which are also shared by SnowShoers. You can also ride your bike on all of the ski trails, we just ask you to stay to the side and please not bike in the tracks that are set for Classic Skiers.

Plan your ride using our Trail Map, which highlights our fatbike-friendly trails.

Fatbiking Conditions & Weather

Fatbiking is weather and trail condition dependent. Soft, deep snow or icy conditions can impact trail accessibility. Before heading out, check our Fatbiking Conditions Report below for up-to-date trail info.
